Location, location, location…

locationWe all know that when it comes to property, it’s “location, location, location”… that’s the 1, 2, 3 of real estate.

But did you know that the same 1, 2, 3 applies to your Job advertisements?  Why?… because these days it’s 1, 2, 3 mobile all the way!

I’ve already written about how applicants are increasingly searching for jobs on mobile devices [here].  And we’ve known for some time that those applicants are increasingly responding to Job Ads that have detailed job titles.

In a recent head-to-head test of two identical Job Ads, we saw nearly twice as many applicants to

“Regional Manager – Manage 16 top-grossing stores and high performing staff”

versus plain old

“Regional Manager”

And the Expr3ss! Quality Report showed those applicants to be of appreciably higher quality, both in their “Can-Do” skills and their “Will-Do” attitudes.

This is not so surprising really.   It’s a Job Advertisement after all.  Which would make you read further?…

“LED TV”

or

“Samsung 60″ Full HD LED 3D Capable Smart TV”

Branding your employment proposition is important, of course, and beyond that featuring details of the job sells the role to potential applicants who are cruising past Job Ads as if they’re in an open-top sports car careering down the highway at 150kph!

Nowadays the same trend we’ve been observing in Job Titles is happening for location… be specific or be ignored!

What does this mean in practice?  It means you no longer put “Regional Manager various locations across NSW”.  Instead have a separate ad for each location and be specific.  Yes, really!  It’s…

Regional Manager – Manage 16 top-grossing stores and high performing staff

Castle Hill NSW 2154

and then

Regional Manager – Manage 16 successful stores and high quality staff

Alexandria NSW 2015

Copy Job makes this a breeze in Expr3ss!, as you already know.

Applicants love detail, just as you do.  And they’ll select one or several jobs to apply for, meaning you never have to ask them where they want to work again, they’ve already told you!

Expr3ss! as you know, makes applying for multiple roles super-easy with intelligent applicant recognition.  Applicants don’t have to create yet another pesky login, username, password.  Plus, by using “Search Applicants” it’s easy to manage all the applicants for these jobs at once, all on one screen.  Ask us to show you how if unsure.

So… be specific in your job’s location as well as in your job’s title for better response rates, higher quality applicants and a better applicant experience… we’ve measured that too, by the way.

More important stuff on location in an upcoming post.  Watch this space.

Thanks for dropping by.
