What differentiates high from low performance, and what are the benefits?  This recent article vision(The Australian – Business Review) offers some insights. According to research by Insync Surveys, of more than 100,000 employees from 200 companies, the differentiator between the high and the low performers is to “live an inspiring vision”.

At Expr3ss! we are all about high performance delivery of our services to all our customers, from employers through to applicants. We all want better outcomes, for the business we’re in. We say it takes more than vision!

Communication is the key.  You must be able to communicate your vision to everyone – it is the glue that holds together management and staff in a company of any size.  Especially in our business, based around technology and software solutions.

Everything about the leadership, culture and messaging in a company MUST be shared with clarity and purpose, so everyone can understand the vision.  The consequence of which is to be a high performer.

With thanks to author Nicholas S. Barnett, of Insync Surveys, here’s our list from his article:

WHY GREAT COMMUNICATION BEGETS HIGH PERFORMANCE:

  • High performing companies build meaning, purpose and inspiration into their fabric and jobs.
  • The right vision will energise employees to get out of bed in the morning.  Every day your picture of the future is discussed, understood, or even lived. Employees are drawn to it.
  • Communicating with clarity is the next step.
  • Your strategies and goals must be clear, and easily understood.  Insync found that 54 per cent of employees in high performance companies could list the goals compared to just 24 per cent for low performers.
  • Develop, recognise and genuinely care for your people – it improves company performance.
  • Authenticity matters.  If you are not genuine about your goals – employees will notice and withdraw their support, especially if Gen Y.
  • Employees must come before customers and before company profits.  Engage and support your employees, who will build greater engagement with customers. S tand by for the surge in custom and profit.
  • Improve your systems.  Make sure your people are not constrained by poor technology or too much red tape.  Free people to do their jobs and do them well.
  • Flexibility leads to empowerment.  Innovation wins the hearts and minds of your people.

It is all about communication, in every aspect of business.  How you impart your vision, how you lead and allow others to lead, how you listen to and empower your people.  How you communicate with your clients and customers.  Aim for the ultimate high performance.
